Amazing cake, not only beautiful but very tasty. Top: marble cake w/ Kahlua liqueur; middle: red velvet w/ cream cheese; bottom-- white cake w/ fresh mangoes and mango mousse. Combining the color palette-- orange, green, and hot pink. It was a very hot outdoor wedding day. The Great Dane Baking Company chose fondant icing that kept the cake standing till end of reception @ 11pm.

A 1.5 acres of land and water, the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden of CalState Long Beach is a very romantic venue for an intimate wedding of 104 guests. The koi pond houses live koi fish in the center and beautiful greenery all around that includes hundreds of bonzai trees in different sizes; small guest tables surrounding the pond keeping the celebration more intimate-- a very unique and heart stopping venue. April describes the garden as the "most beautiful place on earth that day."

Bright, bold colors of orange, green, and hotpink adorned April & Earl's wedding on May 17. Bright colored gerbera daisies wrapped in hotpink ribbons for bridesmaids' bouquets. Large orange roses and green cymbidium orchids wrapped in orange satin ribbon for April's bouquet; and green presidium's orchids for boutonnières. April decided on her color palette of orange, green, and hotpink 17 months before the wedding.

April kept her bridal party small-- her sister as maid of honor, her daughter, cousin, and sister in law stood by her as her bridesmaids. "A wedding is a celebration of the union of families. There was no one else I wanted with me that day than these girls, my mother, and my entire family."

After the ceremony, April and Earl took an intimate moment alone, away from the guests. They sat on one of the large rocks in the garden to appreciate the day and to just "take it all in."

April found this gown from David's Bridal Catalogue in February/07. It was the fifth one she tried on that day. She had no idea what style she wanted-- only that it will not be white; When she put this gown on, she knew this was it--she bought it in March/07 and never looked back.

Both April and Earl's parents are celebrating the 40th year of their marriages in 2008. Paying homage to them, April placed photos of their parents' weddings on the wishing tree table, place card table, and this one on the cake table. The photos from 1968 are the highlights of the night. Guests loved these images of love, commitment, and strength.
