My dad did the artwork for our invitations. My husband and I live in NYC. My husband is an aerospace engineer, and he is also Romanian. Therefore, the invite depicts us on the wing of a plane, overlooking both the Romanian countryside and the New York skyline. Having my dad design our invitations was one of many ways we simultaneously saved money and made our wedding unique.

This picture of our ceremony earned our photographer a WJPA award. My husband and I wrote our own vows. His words totally broke me down.

We had a bird/plane theme (my husband is obsessed with airplanes). Peacock feathers were incorporated into the floral arrangements. Birds were placed throughout, and a birdcage as a card holder was an obvious choice.

Instead of writing in a guest book, our guests wrote notes on vintage airplane postcards, which they then placed in a painted mailbox. The cards were mailed to us, and when we returned from our honeymoon they were waiting at home for us to read!

My husband made our model airplane cake topper. We didn't mean for the plane to look like it was crashing into the cake, but we love that it turned out that way. The cake was carrot cake with pineapple cream cheese frosting, and was the best thing I have EVER tasted.

Our favorite picture. This was taken by a sculpture near the UN, where our ceremony was held.

Most women on The Knot know me from my peacock feather fans. My bridesmaids carried the same ones, but in black rather than white. Another money saver/creative idea.
