One of the highlights of the wedding for me was having my friend's five-year-old daughter as our flower girl. She is like a daughter to me, and I was so happy we could give her a special place in our wedding. As we were getting ready for the ceremony, she was quite enamored of my gown and jewelry--and she kept rush in to "fix" my dress as the photographer snapped pictures.

The first time I set foot in this church, as a teenager, I knew that someday I wanted to get married there. My parents were married on the beach, and I loved that idea, but I also knew it was important to me to get married in a church--the symbolism of being in God's house was important to me. This perfect church on Honolulu's southeast shore strikes the perfect balance of both beach and house of worship. Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing my husband waiting in front of the altar with the ocean right behind him was truly a dream come true.

After our ceremony, reception line, and petal toss, our photographer ushered us behind the church to start taking pictures with our families and bridal party. Then for a split second, we thought we were alone. We were so elated to be married at long last and went in for a kiss--and somehow our photographer got it on camera! My friends have dubbed this the "fairytale" kiss, and it is one of my favorite pictures from the wedding.

We had so much fun taking pictures with the bridal party after our ceremony! Our guys and girls really were a dream come true--a large bridal party, but none of the drama that is so common with big parties. We both had lifelong friends by our sides at the altar--three of my seven girls I'd known since preschool (and one since I was an infant). And the space behind the church where we took pictures was so beautiful people have asked me if we took the pictures in front of a green screen!

When we arrived at the Kahala Hotel & Resort, Sean and I took a walk on the beach before the reception. He carried my shoes so I could walk in the sand, and we took a few minutes away from the rest of the world to bask in the glow of our wedding day. The ocean was amazingly beautiful, and it was the perfect break breather before we went into our reception.

Our first dance as husband and wife. The moment was almost surreal. We were announced and walked in to a standing ovation. Our guests remained standing for our first dance to "That's All," a Nat King Cole song we knew was perfect for our first dance when we heard it in the car several months before the wedding. It was sung live by Jimmy Borges, a locally famous singer who specializes in Frank Sinatra tunes. Jimmy and his band serenaded our cocktail hour and the dinner portion of our reception--and they were phenomenal.

Eventful created a beautiful flower motif for our wedding using roses and orchids in pink and white. I always adored the classic look roses brought to a wedding, and added orchids to give a tropical "sense of place" to our Honolulu wedding. When I saw our flowers--from bouquets and leis to pew florals and altar flowers, to our table arrangements I couldn't believe how Eventful stayed within our budget!
The flowers were tailor made to match our cake from Mary Catherine's. We wanted the cake to eminate our simple elegant theme: white with pink ribbons and roses. The bottom two layers of the cake are cocoa buttercream (a very light chocolate) and the top was carrot cake--with a buttercream frosting. It was so beautiful, several guests asked if it was just a decoration. It was real--and delicious!
