My wife and I had a secret ceremony in a village on the coast of Italy one year, to the day, of our first date. We have a connection that is beyond my wildest dreams and it was only fitting that our wedding was equally perfect. My wife was in the midst of an extremely busy summer working on her PhD, so I arranged the majority of our elopement with the help of a wedding planner/photographer in Italy and my wife's cousin, a minister, who came along to marry us. I was delighted to find that my wife was very pleased with the way it turned out.

I was so excited to walk out of the gardens and enter the world as husband and wife.

We rode by boat to a quaint seaside restaurant to our celebratory dinner with my wife's cousin and his wife.

A prosecco toast marked the end of a tiring day of ceremonies and photos, but the start of something bigger than my wife and I could ever have imagined. We looked forward to our excursion to the Isle of Capri and a long, happy life together upon returning home.

The sun was just setting and made for a magnificent ride to the restaurant.

We had an opportunity to relax and quietly enjoy each other before heading to dinner.

Only minutes after the ceremony, we realized that we had both enscribed the same phrase inside our rings to one another. "You are the one", a phrase that was comfortably shared between us from very early on during our year of dating. As they say, when they're the one, you just KNOW.
