Our photographer has a wonderfully photo journalistic style, which captures certain moments not necessarily meant for the public eye. Here, Michael and I share a tender moment alone after our Ceremony and before our Reception. We had such lovely florals, candles, and water fountain in the Patio Room at the Duquesne Club but could only enjoy them for 10-15 minutes before we were ushered upstairs to walk into our First Dance. The whole day flew by, so our advice is to try and savor every moment - and hire a really good videographer and photographer to help!

Since we wanted to do something special for our guests, we took 3 months of private lessons at Arthur Murray to get ready for the event. By far, the bridal dances were the highlights of the evening. You can check out our videos on our website, as we walked into our First Dance, "Let's Get Loud!" (a sexy rumba). Then after dinner, we suprised our guests with a second dance, as we floated across the floor with a classic foxtrot, "Dance Me to the End of Love". Music and singing was performed by the Finesse Superband.

The wedding cake was uniquely flavored with Peach Mousseline between layers of Vanilla Bean cake, drizzled with Pear Alexander Brandy, coated with Butter Almond icing, and then decorated with Ivory fondant that was patterned after the lace and sash on my wedding gown. To top it off, each slice was served with a Mixed Berry Compote on the side. (Yum!) The pastry chef at the Duquesne Club customized the cake based on our preferences and guided us through which fruit flavors could be paired together for something truly special.

Since my parents insisted on a classic ballroom dance after dinner (instead of the sexy Latin dance that we did walking in), we ended up doing 2 wedding dances! After dinner, we surprised our guests with a classic foxtrot, "Dance Me to the End of Love," sung (originally by Madeleine Peyroux and now) by the Finesse Superband with Strings.
The choreography for this one was beautifully done and unique in that we started at opposite sides of the dance floor and came together as one in spinning in a circle (representative of yin-yang) before twirling out into the next frame. It was a perfect blend of eastern and western cultures, even though it was a classic move in dance choreography.

Rather than the usual ending dip, the chasse pose was actually a part of the opening, after we spun around in our circle from the above snapshot. It was quite an eye-opener and a step not seen before at any of the other weddings we've been to. We were pleased when the crowd went wild with applause, cheers, and whistles, which gave us more confidence to proceed as the music (with its difficult rhythm) played on and the rest of the dance unfolded fairly smoothly.
Be sure to check out our website for this dance, since this is just 1 out of 8 videos on there.

We were encouraged by a greater than expected and favorable response from our guests, so we could relax and enjoy performing for them without worrying about all the technical details. Here, we are maintaining our Latin dance frame just completing a cross-body step during the Rumba. As our dance instructors would constantly remind us, "Dance two inches taller," i.e. chest up, butt out, and don't slouch!
Our advice is to choose a sleek and streamlined wedding gown if you plan on doing anything fancy for your dance. It will not only minimize tripping yourself, but your partner will also be able to hold you in a normal dance frame without bending forward to accomodate a bulky wedding gown. The groom should also make sure that his tuxedo jacket should be tailored properly, so that his shoulders don't look they're shrugging upwards while in dance frame.

Well, we hope you enjoyed our pictures and some of our tips useful.
The best advice for the particulars of your own A-list event will come from a team of seasoned wedding professionals who know each other and have worked well together for past weddings.
There were many good photo opportunities, so we had a difficult time narrowing them down. Consequently, we varied the pictures in our musical slideshow, local media coverage, and final wedding album. Please check out our website to see all of these features and more for additional ideas.
Good luck on your wedding preparations, and may you have a perfect day tying your own knot!
