Wedding location: Boothbay Harbor Region, Maine
We were married by Rev. Harold Nicknair at the Janet M. Wilson Memorial chapel at Ocean Point in East Boothbay, Maine. There is a fun story that goes along with this location ...
While on vacation in Boothbay Harbor, Maine a few years back, I saw a couple getting married at a little stone chapel overlooking the water at Ocean Point. At the time, I remember thinking that they had chosen the perfect spot to get married.
I didn't make it back to Maine until I started dating Ryan. His family has been summering at a place called Heron Island since 1887. Heron Island is coincidentally very close to Boothbay Harbor and that little stone chapel! In the summer of 2006 I visited Heron Island with Ryan and his family, and fell in love with the area all over again.
I didn't tell Ryan about my dream of getting married in Maine until a few days after he proposed. Because Heron is Ryan's favorite place on earth, I thought he might agree with me that Maine would be the perfect place for us to get married!
After doing some research, and taking a trip to the area to scout out ceremony and reception sites, Ryan and I decided to have our ceremony at the Janet M. Wilson Memorial Chapel - that same little stone chapel overlooking the water at Ocean Point that I had dreamt about!

This is a picture of the ring basket that our niece, Sidra, carried. Our other nieces, Charlotte and Ella, were our flower girls. They carried the same baskets, but theirs held rose petals. My mother did a great job decorating the baskets to go with our color scheme and our wedding day theme!

This is a picture of me and Ryan on the steps of the chapel. I think it shows what a great time we had taking pictures following the ceremony!

This is the amazing view that we had from the chapel. Immediately following the ceremony, we took some time to get some great pictures down by the water on the rocks. What a beautiful day!

We share a quiet moment on the back lawn at our reception site - The Lawnmere Inn on Southport Island, Maine. The Inn overlooks a secluded cove - it was the perfect spot for us to celebrate on our wedding day with our loved ones!
I just love how my train looks in this picture! My dress is by designer, Romona Keveza.

We gave jars of wild Maine buckwheat honey to our guests as favors. We really loved how the honey looked in these little antique-looking muth jars. Ryan designed the favor tags (which doubled as seating cards).
We included a thank you to our guests and a quote by Victor Hugo. "Life is the flower for which love is the honey." The kids got the same bottles, but theirs were filled with jelly beans!

We love this picture that our photographer, Amy Salerno, took during one of our last dances of the evening. We sent it out to our friends and family in our holiday cards because we think it captured the feeling of the day perfectly!
