Romance in the South

Wedding location: North Carolina

Tom and I had a bit of a whirlwind relationship...when we met, he lived in NJ and I lived in San Francisco. We flew back and forth every 2-3 weeks for a year before I finally decided to move back to the East Coast. When we got engaged, I was looking forward to returning to my roots with a big southern wedding in North Carolina.

My favorite memories as a child take place at the beaches of North Carolina, but I really wanted a traditional church wedding. So my friends and family all spent the weekend on Figure 8 Island, and then got married in historic downtown Wilmington which isn't too far away. My bridesmaids wore Jenny Yoo Silk Shantung, and I let them each choose their own style. Here I am with my 2 sisters.

The reception took place at the City Club DeRosset Manor House: a historic pre-Civil War Southern Mansion-both in the gardens and throughout the first floor

We loved our cake! The grapevines on top were a tribute to my husband's *other* passion-wine! The cake was made by Sue Wiechman in Wilmington, NC

I am the first of 3 girls in my family to get married. The dance with my father, outdoors in the beautiful gardens, underneath the magnolia trees, was very special

For the favors, we combined my husband's passion for wine with my love of the beach and gave out shell wine stoppers...everyone loved them!

There's something magical about plantation weddings. If I could have a second wedding, thats what I would do. Beautiful!
