Wedding date: December 15, 2007
Wedding location: Jacksonville, Florida
Our wedding took place at a beautiful historic southern plantation home on the water. The ceremony was underneath a 200 year old oak tree- it was perfect for us! I carried my great-grandmother’s handkerchief around my bouquet, and wore the pearls my mother wore at her wedding. We were married by my childhood pastor, and my dad cried all the way down the aisle. It couldn’t have been more special, and I’ll never forget it!

Our incredible cake, by Classic Cakes. We put pictures on display from our parents’ and grandparents’ weddings, because we wanted to celebrate their marriages also (three of which have lasted over fifty years and counting!) and to honor those that couldn't be there with us to celebrate. We also had our monogram on the middle tier, and a floral "S" hanging behind it, for our new last name.
The cake had two tiers of carrot cake (my favorite!) and one tier of white cake with a milk chocolate mocha icing. It was delicious!

My wonderful family, taken before the ceremony. We couldn't stop laughing! I am so very thankful for them- my mother was my rock in the wedding planning process, because we had decided to get married back home in Jacksonville, yet were in Birmingham, Alabama for school. She was incredible though- always doing so much without me ever asking. My sister is the most beautiful person I know, and my brother was such a good sport to keep his jacket on for so long that day! And of course, my dad- he is an incredible dad, and it was all of the good things about him that I was looking for in a husband (and I was lucky enough to find a man as great as him!)

These were taken right after the ceremony, down by the waterside. Jason and I are from the same hometown, but didn't meet until freshman year at a college 8 hours away from home. He was my chemistry tutor, and then my best friend. And years later, he became the most incredible husband I could have asked for!

Ever since watching Father of the Bride as a little girl, I had always dreamed of an evening reception at a beautiful white house with a tent out back- and that was exactly what we got! It was so perfect.
The reception was held throughout the plantation home (in the ballroom and the dining room), and spilled out into the veranda and tent. We served a peppercorn filet and pistachio-encrusted grouper as main courses, along with several sides, and had a dessert crepe station in addition to the cake. Then we danced the night away in the tent with the band!

Our ceremony florals were a beautiful mixture of fresh cedar garland and hydrangea-orchid tie ups, with creamy rose petals scattered down the aisle.
The reception florals mirrored the ceremony- a mixture of white tulips, hydrangea, white dendrobium orchids, fresh willow, and winter berries. I wanted a natural, loose look for the arrangements that were cool, calm colors for the winter, and our florist Bill Wilson did an incredible job! They were everything I dreamed of- it is so exciting when you get to see the things you visualize happen even better than you had planned! He was a pleasure to work with- one of our favorite vendors. I highly recommend him to any other Jacksonville brides out there!

Our favorite picture from the big day. I love looking at it, because I remember exactly how I felt on my wedding day! It was everything I hoped for, and we were able to share it with everyone we loved- we couldn't have asked for more.
I fell in love with my dress as soon as I tried it on! I wanted somthing classic and vintage looking, with mostly lace and a beautiful, romantic skirt. It has hand-sewn patches of lace all down the dress, and then beautiful scalloped lace along the bottom. My veil has a lace border that matches the lace on the dress. It was everything I dreamed of!
